A REDDIT user has blasted a misleading landlord after they began renting a “cheap room” that turned out to be a closet.

The disgruntled tenant shared footage of the cluttered walk in wardrobe which they claimed was so small that they couldn’t even fit a mattress in it.

Replying in a forum thread about tiny rooms, the user explained that they had been house hunting for some time before they discovered the auspicious advertisement.

And without wanting to miss out on the seemingly good offer, they signed onto a year-long contract before realising their terrible error.

“I was supposed to find housing last summer but got lazy, found a post for a cheap ‘room’ on Facebook and thought I was getting the room, the user wrote.

“Turns out I get the closet and signed a 12 month lease.”

Fellow Reddit users in the comments sympathised with the troubled tenant as they suggested that renting the tiny storage unit “shouldn’t be allowed.”

One said: “The lease is not valid man, look for a better place. This isn’t okay.”

A second added: “Pretty sure this is highly illegal.”

Meanwhile others urged him to seek council from a local estate agent as they called out the “shocking” landlord.

It comes just a week after social media users were left stunned by a tiny New York apartment as it trended on Twitter.

Posting online, comedian and actor, Ron Ervin, said that he wasn’t able to fit a stove and nor can he even fit a wardrobe into the 100 sq ft space.

Despite skimping on a few basics, he managed to squeeze in a large computer monitor perched on a chest of drawers.

He also managed to fit a podcast microphone and a greenscreen which he had pinned behind him.

Elsewhere, UK Twitter users were left outraged with a tiny London flat with the bed inches from the kitchen sink.

Many joked that they’d seen jail cells bigger than the poky room.

One person replied: “Omgggg”.

“WHO WOULD WANNA LIVE LIKE THAT?” asked another.

Another replied simply: “HAHAHAHA”.
