ASDA changes its opening times over the festive season.

Shoppers are still advised to check specific store opening hours to avoid wasting a trip to their local branch.

The opening times that most customers are familiar started to change from December 24, Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, all Asda branches were shut, giving staff a break on the big day.

Unlike Morrisons, Asda stores were open on Boxing Day so shoppers could pick up any essentials – but trading hours were reduced.

Most stores were operating Sunday trading hours, open either 10am to 4pm or 11am to 5pm.

Asda has more than 600 shops across the UK and the best way to know when your local one is open is to check online.

You can see the exact timings of your local Asda branch with its online store finder tool.

Stores will also run their normal hours from December 27 to December 30.

What are Asda’s opening hours over the New Year?

Like most major retailers, Asda supermarkets will close early on New Year’s Eve (Friday 31 December) and opening later on New Year’s Day (Saturday January 1, 2022).

It differs store-by-store, but on our search many Asda Superstores are set to close at 7pm on New Years Eve and reopen at 10am on New Years Day.

Asda stores will operate normal hours on January 2, 2022 – but remember it’s a Sunday so trading hours can be shorter than weekday opening times.

Monday January 3, 2022 is a bank holiday and that means opening hours may be different to usual.

The bank holiday is a substitute one as New Years Day falls on the weekend.

From January 4, trading hours will be back to normal.
