Exclusive: Major network operators asked to send Boxing Day message, despite worries about possible backlash

The government is planning to send out a UK-wide mobile alert urging the public to get a Covid booster, in a move mobile operators fear could spark a backlash from customers opposed to vaccinations.

The UK’s biggest mobile operators – EE, O2, Vodafone and Three UK – have been asked by the government to send a message on Boxing Day.
