ONE of Britain’s smallest homes is a tiny cube-shaped property on the market for a whopping £255,000.

The Grade II-listed gatehouse on the Grimston Park Estate in North Yorkshire measures just 408sq ft – but is “steeped in Royal history” dating back to the 1800s.

The Georgian estate where the gatehouse – one of two similar structures – is nestled has been frequented by the British monarchy for countless generations.

James VI of Scotland made a visit to the estate on his journey to becoming king.

Above ground – in a 10ft 5ins by 8ft 6ins space – is the property’s bedroom, with the bed cleverly raised above the floor to provide ample storage space underneath.

Visitors then descend an ornate spiral staircase to a lower ground living area, which is 13ft long.

There, a mini-kitchen, tiny living room and pint-sized bathroom can all be found, along with a bright sunroof letting in plenty of natural light.

The property’s £255,000 price tag is considered reasonable for the area, where the average home costs £338,000.

A spokesman for estate agents Hunters told the Mirror: “Steeped in history and built with a Limestone Asher block exterior lies this Grade II listed Georgian gate house opening towards to stunning Grimston Park Estate in a beautiful rural location.

“This unique detached home has been improved by the current owners and is arranged over two floors, the ground floor and underground living accommodation.

“The current owners have lived in this property for many years and have enjoyed the convenient location and the community that the estate has to offer.”
