Here are our top ways to save money on takeaways.

Pick the best day for a takeaway

Earlier this year, MoneySavingExpert revealed the best days for discounts at your favourite chains including Pizza Hut, Burger King and McDonald’s.

For example, Just Eat offers 20% off on Tuesdays, while Deliveroo does 20% off on Thursdays.

Order direct

Takeaway sites have some great perks – but they often charge fees and extra for delivery.

If you’re ordering from a local or independent restaurant they might have their own delivery service – and they probably won’t charge a fee.

Sign up to apps

If you’re a fan of a particular chain like McDonald’s or KFC, then it’s worth downloading their free apps.

The chains will often give the best discounts via their apps to loyal customers.

Check for discounts

If you are going to use a delivery app like Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats then make sure you check for a discount.

Firstly, check your emails. The delivery apps regularly send out codes to loyal customers so there might be an offer you can use.

Then check the apps. They may have a discount that suits you, for example Deliveroo is doing 50% off some local restaurants.

For this to work you will have to be quite flexible with where you order from.

Compare prices before you order and double check whether going direct could save you money.

Lastly, search the web. Search the name of the app and restaurant you’re going to use and check sites like Vouchercloud for discount codes.

Get 20% of McDonald’s

The fast food chain is doing 20% off its entire menu until Tuesday.

You can only get the discount by ordering via the free McDonald’s app.

You will have to pick up the order from a McDonald’s restaurant to get the deal.

Get £10 FREE at Pizza Hut

You’ll have to spend the £10 via TopCashback to get the discount but there’s no minimum spend.

The offer is valid until April 25 – or until 5,000 have been claimed.

How do cashback websites work?

They promise to earn you money on your shopping – but how do cashback websites work?

  • Cashback sites agree offers with retailers which they pass on to customers
  • This can vary from a set amount of money off whatever you are buying, or a percentage of the cost of your purchase
  • The sums range from pennies for groceries to more than £100 for some mobile or broadband contracts
  • You have to make your purchases by clicking through from the cashback site
  • Because the sites drive traffic to retailers, they earn money from brands they support
  • Membership of most sites is free – although some offer premium subscriptions which you pay more for.

Uber Eats – £15 off your first order

If you’re new to Uber Eats then you could get £15 off when you order using this Sun Vouchers code.

There’s no minimum order – but it’s only valid for new customers.

Deliveroo – £10 off your first order

If you’re new to Deliveroo then you can get £10 off your first order using this Sun Vouchers code.

It’s only valid for new customers and you have to spend a minimum of £5.

How to ALWAYS get a discount on Dominio’s

Latest Deals has a brilliant tool that scours the web for Domino’s pizza discounts.

You search using your postcode to pull up relevant offers.

When we searched today we found codes for 50% off when you spend £20 and free garlic bread for new customers.

We’ve previously revealed how to save money at McDonald’s.

Earlier this week Costa fans were furious when the chain’s app crashed after it offered 50p drinks for three days.

Other big chains including Beefeater and Zizzi are also offering discounts to welcome customers back in.
