If you’re noticing your device running slow or taking forever to load apps, there are three hidden settings you can tweak to give it a performance boost.

LIMIT BACKGROUND PROCESSES

One of the biggest culprits behind slow phone performance is a multitude of apps running in the background.

Even when you’re not actively using them, these apps are constantly consuming resources that can slow down your phone.

Thankfully, Android has a built-in feature to limit background activity.

To try this feature out, head to Settings and then select Developer options.

From there, tap on Background Process Limit and can set a process limit between 0 and 4.

You will want to try out a few options to see which is best for your device.

By limiting background activity for less-used apps, you’ll free up resources for the apps you actually use, resulting in a smoother and faster experience.

REMOVE OLD FILES

One of the best ways to make your device feel brand new is to delete all of your old files and apps.

Not only do these serve no purpose for you anymore, but they just take up precious space.

The quickest way to manage your phone’s storage is to use the Files app.

To access this, open the Android app drawer by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

Tap My Files (or File Manager). From there you can access your documents, downloads, images, audio, and other files.

DISABLE LOCATION SERVICES

Many apps on your smartphone use your location to enhance your experience while using them.

However, this service often drains your phone’s battery and ultimately shortens its lifespan.

By turning it off, you not only better secure your privacy but also improve your phone’s battery life.

You can see which apps are using your location on your iPhone by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
